Our favorite Wolverine, Hugh Jackman, wants to trade blows with The Incredible Hulk in an Avengers sequel. That’ right. The pointy fingered thespian would happily join the cast of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, if only he could. As we few true fanboys know, Fox Studios owns the exclusive cinematic rights to the X-Men, while Marvel Studios owns nearly everything else. The two would never mingle their franchises, though, as both are separately profitable. And even though Hugh Jackman is the most adorable macho man I’ve ever seen, I doubt his mighty dimples could sway the cold hearts of the studio execs.
Well, not until their box office hauls drop. I’m almost 100% certain will see an Avengers vs X-Men film before the end of this comic book movie craze. Hell, Justice League vs The Avengers isn’t too outlandish, not when revenue is concerned.
All of that, as we should safely assume, is far far in the future. As long as these franchise’s continue to produce profit, they’ve no reason to mingle.
We can hope, though. Here’s what Jackman had to say.
“I would love to see him as part of The Avengers. Because there’s a great dysfunction among that team, and I think Wolverine would fit right into that. He’d like that. There’s no doubt he’d get in a fight with Hulk at some point. Those two bad, rage-filled characters are going to square off at some point. It would be quite fun. I don’t know how much fun to shoot it would be because I’m sure I’d be on the worst end of it, but hey, he can heal.”
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine versus Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk? What a dream!!! We’ve only ever seen Wolvie in practical effect driven brawls, and Hulk’s an obviously computer generated character, so their onscreen battle would be a truly awesome spectacle.
