We are all eagerly awaiting the new Avengers: Age of Ultron; some of us clutching Ironman helms and Hulk hands. Just recently both ScarJo, the sensual and tough Black Widow, and James Spader, perfectly cast as Ultron, decided to throw some info our way, albeit not much. Any bit of news makes the painful wait better though (and think, at least it isn’t a George R.R. Martin novel wait!).
In a recent interview with the Inquirer, Spader threw this out,
I have spoken to Joss Whedon about it. And yes, actually, just this weekend I went in for them to take very extensive photographs, head scans, body scans, and all kinds of things in preparation for figuring out how the hell I’m gonna fit in this Ultron character!”
This could mean a great many things or nothing at all. Will James be wearing a suit or are we talking CGI here? Or maybe a mix? Or something unique (debate away)? Spader also had this to say to about playing the Avenger’s foil to the The Independent,
I think it’ll be a lot of fun and it’s incredibly nostalgic for me. When I was a kid my best friend had trunks of comics and I didn’t have any so I used to love going for sleepovers at his house. Also I have three sons and two of them have a great interest in comics so they’re excited I’m playing the role.”
This small tidbit makes me excited. James Spader is an amazing actor and if he is geeked to play Ultron that can only mean good things for fanboy nation. This man’s range is amazing and whatever and however he brings it will only make the new Avengers movie that much more amazing.
The Black Widow was also talking to the press recently. However, ScarJo was rather mysterious in her comment to Interview Magazine,
We’ll be shooting that in January. I think we’re taking it to the streets this time, I think we’re going overseas.”
The only thing I got from this is that there will be some actual filming going on in January (maybe even overseas) and that maybe Scarlett is a secret Doobie Brothers fan as well. But, when Miss Johansson speaks I listen up…and when its about the Avengers it goes for double.
This just adds to the chatter and anticipation without actually revealing anything of substance for us. If you folks are like me it will probably spark endless debate…at least until the next interview or trailer; and then it begins anew.
