AVENGERS 2 Scoop: THANOS in The Movie? Plus Joss Whedon on Ultron

Remember that one scene after the credits of the 2012 movie The Avengers that had everybody squirming in excitment about things to come? Remember how that one scene with Thanos’s appearance made us think that he was definitely going to be the big bad guy of Avengers 2? And remember how in usual Joss Whedon Fashion, the villain of the sequel turns out to not be Thanos?

Joss Whedon, director of the Avengers and it’s recently announced upcoming sequel Avengers : Age of Ultron  is not ruling out an appearance by Thanos. Nor is he confirming Thano’s appearance. However we do know that Thanos will definitely be featured in Guardians of the Galaxy. This is what Joss had to say when asked about Thanos:

“We have to stay grounded. It’s part of what makes the Marvel universe click — their relationship to the real world. It’s science fiction, and Thanos is not out of the mix, but Thanos was never meant to be the next villain. He’s always been the overlord of villainy and darkness.”

Joss also said that during the planning stages of the original Avengers movie he had pitched Ultron to the producers. He had this to say about it:

“I was pitching Ultron before I took the job on the first movie. I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to do this, but for the second one, you should totally do Ultron. He (Ultron) was great. He’s somebody who can juice things up and he’s a real problem for the Avengers. That’s not always easy to find. It’s not like the Vulture is really going to give them a hard time for 20 minutes.”

Avengers : Age of Ultron is scheduled for release in May 2015.
