It’s amazing what one little (big?) change to the origin of an 80’s sensation can do. Just a few days ago, Michael Bay announced that in the new reboot based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will change the entire story drastically: the Turtles will be aliens. I know right!? I was shocked as well. Yesterday Bay responded to the enormous backlash from fans, we did post it but in case you missed it here it is:
“Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”
Heh. Michael Bay telling fans to chill. Makes me smile. Anyway, the actor who voiced Michaelangelo was extremely against the idea, saying that Bay was raping our childhoods. But, the voice actor for leader of the Turtles Leonardo (Brian Tochi) is suprisingly backing Bay in the scandal.
“If Michael Bay wants to do a different take on the turtles origin story … Mazel Tov!”
Judith Hoag who played April O’ Neill in the original movies is also backing the move along with Leonardo. We don’t have the quotes, but we do know that she is excited for the changes. Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.
