BleedingCool has picked up on a casting call sheet which is likely from Ant-Man. It’s been confirmed by both Marvel and Edgar Wright that pre-production on the film has been underway since October. We’ve heard names like Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones are currently being eyed as front-runners for leads. While Joseph Gordon-Levitt had only been linked. Then somewhat downplayed by Kevin Feige during recent interviews. It’s possible that JGL was being eyed for Scott Lang, not Hank Pym.
This new all sheet includes a young girl character. Which might be hinting to Cassie Lang, the sickly daughter of Scott Lang. Scott turns to a life of crime to pay for his daughter’s treatments. If Cassie is in the film there are zero doubts that Scott would be too. This sheet also reveals that they are looking for actors being able to pull of comedic roles. Adding to the fuel this might be more comedy focused than previous Marvel films. Ant-Man has been described as a huge spy-heist action spectacle by both Wright and Feige. Perhaps, having more in common with Winter Soldier than the Iron Man films.
Scott Lang is the second incarnation of Ant-Man and has been talked up by Edgar Wright for a couple of years. The issue of Ant-Man that Wright was holding up at Comic-Con, when revealing his test-footage had Lang on the cover. We’ve also heard that it could be team of Ant-Men. Allowing the possibility that Janet, Hank, Scott and even S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Eric O’Grady could rock suits in the film. Cassie would eventually follow in her father’s footsteps to become a superhero herself. Taking up membership in the Young Avengers. Rumblings have also circulated that Scott could start out as the villain.
