ALAN RITCHSON to Kick Some Shell as Raphael in NINJA TURTLES

The upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot film will begin filming sometime as soon as next month, so its kinda strange that we haven’t heard about any of the Turtles being casted. Untill now. Deadline claims that hot-head Raphael will be portrayed by Alan Ritchson.

Alan Ritchson is probably most well-known among comic fans for his portrayal of Aquaman in Smallville (he also voiced the King of Atlantis in Justice League: The New Frontier), but among mainstream audiences, his most notable role would be Kevin “Thad” Castle in Blue Mountain State. He also performed on American Idol.

Raphael is arguably the fan-favorite of the four turtle siblings, so Mr. Ritchson better do his best to please the fans. No words on the other turtles as of yet, but April O’Neal will be portrayed by Megan Fox, who was the main heroine in the first two Transformers flicks.

Ninja Turtles is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) with Michael Bay (Transformers) producing. The film is aiming for a June 6, 2014 release date.

After the script was leaked, leading to fan outrage, I hope that the studio tries very hard to make Ninja Turtles a quality film. However, Liesbesman has an awful track record; I hated Wrath of the Titans and Battle: Los Angeles. Lets hope Ninja Turtles is better.
