Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Joins THOR: THE DARK WORLD As ‘Kurse’

Many fans were hoping he would portray Black Panther in a live-action movie based on the character, but it appears Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has bagged a different Marvel movie role. Variety is now reporting that Adewale is set to play the role of Kurse in Thor: The Dark World, one of the lead villains.

In the comics Kurse, originally named Algrim, was the strongest member of the Dark Elves. His baddie liege, Malekith the Accursed (to be played by Chris Eccleston) selects Algrim to fight in a death match with Asgard’s favorite son. In mid brawl, Malekith opens a steaming hot chasm of enchanted magma beneath the two warriors, and the pair fall to their deaths!

Well… at least, they almost did.  Of course, Thor managed to survive using Mjolnir, but Algrim plopped straight into the lava stew. He survives, and is then transformed into Kurse, who is effectively twice as strong as Thor.

Double the pleasure, double the fun, la la la… Double Mint Kurse!

I immediately regret writing that jingle.  Apologies to all who read it!

Lucky for us, Adewale will be playing both roles, which means we should have at least two awesome on screen duels in store. I hope they’re a bit better than the Thor vs. Loki battles though. There’s not much pizazz in those fights, especially when you compare them to the tornado filled, thunderous bout between The Destroyer and The Odinson.

Additionally, it has also been confirmed that Kat Dennings will be reprising her role as Darcy in Thor: The Dark World. What do you think about this? Sound off below.
