TEEN TITANS GO! “Terra-ized” Review

This week’s episode of Teen Titans Go! was possibly the most hyped episode of the series yet! Why? This episode guest starred fan-favorite character Terra! Spoilers ahead!

As Teen Titan fans may remember, in the original show, Terra (Ashley Johnson) briefly joined the Teen Titans, before betraying them for the evil Slade. However, she ended up betraying Slade too, and sacrificed her life to defeat him. However, way later, in the series finale, Terra returned. But how? When? Did she still have her powers? The show never gave any answers, so fans were hoping that this episode would provide.

Let me get this out of the way right now: this episode is NOT a continuation of the original show! If you watch this segment for answers, you will not get any. Both shows are not even in continuity.

With that out of the way, I’ll continue. In this episode, Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) introduces his new girlfriend, Terra, to the other Titans. Raven (Tara Strong) becomes suspicious when Beast Boy admits that Terra has been asking him for security codes and access to restricted areas. Unfortunately, when Raven tries to share her concerns with Starfire (Hynden Walch) and Cyborg (Khary Payton) they accuse her of being jealous.

I must say, this is one of those episodes where the plot only works when the whole cast become idiots. You know the kind. Terra keeps acquiring more and more data, and yet no one (aside from Raven) notices or cares. I usually don’t care for plots that require that. And yet…I enjoyed this one.

I think I liked the irony of Terra being truly greedy and evil here. It’s like they took Terra from the original show, and cut out her redeeming qualities. And fans will be pleased to hear that Ashley Johnson reprises her role. And making Terra so manipulative makes her final showdown with Raven all the more satisfying.

So…Titans Go has yet another winner. Were people really doubting this show at first?

Final notes: I wonder who Terra’s client was. Slade perhaps? I wonder if Raven sent Terra to Trigon’s dimension. And the ending will have fan-shippers writing fan-fiction by the truckload!
