Well, here we go again, more zombies, is what I initially thought about this comic. I don’t know about you, but I am getting tired of the Zombie fade. Between The Walking Dead and  cheap movies, zombies are starting to wear on the me. So I went into this with that mentality but, gladly, I was proven wrong. The new Zombie War comic, takes a fresh breath of air with the idea of “what would happen if zombies were intelligent and military trained?” The story starts with a zombie outbreak and goes through a massacre of our world but underneath it all is a little mystery that keeps you entertained.

Kevin Eastman and Tom Skulan have brought a fresh idea of the zombie apocalypse to the table that makes me excited about zombies again. There story is quick and simple but keeps you guess while you read panel to panel. In a way, there are three stories going on and the interweaving of the three works so fluidly that you can keep up and understand them. It is quite fantastic.

Now, the art, is something that is interesting to talk about, especially with this comic. Eastman and Eric Talbot don’t go for the flashy art that you see in most comics. Instead they give you something that adds to the story. The old gritty style of comic drawing. It works so well with this that its hard not to admire. You feel the desperation and pain through the panels by the way that it is drawn and colored, something not many comics can do.

Overall, I think this is awesome. It’s new, fresh, and fun. I highly recommend it. I give it a 5 out of 5.
