WinterWorld #3 Review

The world has gone into an ice age and there seems to be no hope for humanity! However, it seems that there might be more to the world but is it on the up and up? Read on to find out more.

Chuck Dixon and Butch Guice take you deeper into the next ice age as Scully and Wynn find a refuge of sorts in the last place on Earth that’s warm. It’s a communal paradise of farmers and fishermen who have made heaven from hell. But is all what it seems to be or, as Scully believes, is it way too good to be true?

So the thing that makes this comic better than the post-apocalyptic run of the mill comic, is that the characters STK645605seem to have so much hope while being quite pessimistic. They want there to be more than the barren waste land that is earth but they have their moments where they are just not sure. It is a nice thing because we have that never ending sadness but there is still that idea of hope. In this issue, that is most evident because we have Scully and Wynn figuring out that there is a warm spot but there are some things that are hidden. This issue is setting up like the Governorin Walking Dead, which is good but I hope they don’t just copy it.

Chuck Dixon does a great job of fleshing the characters out but still allows the story to move forward. The way that they are fleshed out and really taking in the ideas behind this new world is a nice change of pace.

Butch Guice is very good at drawing a vast landscape and making interesting. It is pretty great and I really enjoy look at the panels. It is really well done!

WinterWorld #3 is a great issue that hopefully takes a new step rather than copying!
