Where Is Jake Ellis? #3 Review

Is this continuing odyssey still worth following?  Read on to find out.

The official description from IMAGE:

Jon’s back is against the wall, but Jake is by his side. The question is, what is The Facility really after – and what is Dawid willing to do to get it for them?

Where Is Jake Ellis? is the sequel to writer Nathan Edmondson’s original series Who Is Jake Ellis? Unlike most comics which will give new readers plenty of explanation of what has come before this series does not. It’s not necessarily a problem but don’t expect to pick up issue number three and expect to be able to figure out what’s going on. That said, there is enough information, action and mystery to make you want to know the whole story from the beginning. This is the third of five and chapter eight in the full ten part story arc. You don’t have to read the original but it’s definitely worth the investment. This is a top notch espionage story with all the action and intrigue of a big budget Hollywood movie and I can’t recommend both series enough.

For those caught up with the story, Jon Moore is again on the run from The Facility and Dawid who have Jake Ellis in their custody. As Jake gets closer to Jon geographically their remote-viewing bond grows stronger but it also draws them both in greater danger. The majority of the series has been Jon on the run but this time his luck and help from Jake may have just run out. What would happen if the Facility actual catches up and brings both Jake and Jon in? After this issue those questions just may be one step closer to being answered.

Edmondson’s writing is spectacular and he doesn’t waste any dialogue or panels rehashing anything that’s happened so far. This story moves at rapid fire pace and it’s fun to be along for the ride. Tonci Zonjic’s art is a perfect fit for this story. His art is minimalist but it provides plenty of action and pacing and Edmondson uses it to maximum effect.

You may not know who or where Jake Ellis is but you read just one issue of this great series and believe me you will want to know more before you’re finished.  Recommended.
