The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, and More Coming from IDW

The Cartoon Network of yesterday had some of the most beloved cartoons of all time. From The Powerpuff Girls to Generator Rex, there’s no denying that the channel had some of the most entertaining of shows. In the mid 2000s DC did some stories with those characters. (Remember Johnny DC?) Now it looks like the property master IDW, home of Godzilla, Transformers, and more, will be doing a whole new line of comics with these characters.

“Many of these Cartoon Network shows have only grown in popularity since they originally aired,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief, “and we’re excited to be able to offer new iterations of the characters in comic-book form alongside both our planned reprint material and also some new animated ventures Cartoon Network has planned, too. There’s a wealth of fun properties to play with here, and we’ve already got some unique things in mind for them.”

The beginning lineup will include The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, Ben 10, and Generator Rex. An IDW spokeperson spoke with ICv2 and said that the first comic will be a Powerpuff one, which will debut in the fall.

Who knows, maybe now we’ll finally get a Powerpuff Girls/My Little Pony crossover.
