The End Times of Bram & Ben #4 Review

While the audience is still reeling from the events of the previous outing, can the creative team deliver something that offers a decent enough finish to their mini-series?  Read on to find out.

MINISERIES CONCLUSION
After last issue’s shocking ending — Ben is left alone to face the Antichrists! Did we mean for that to be plural? Will Ben die before having sex with Laura, the Gym teacher? Why does God let bad things happen to good people??? FIND OUT IN THIS FINAL ISSUE!

When it comes to biblical satire that plays not just with the concepts but the current society’s view on them, I can’t think of a more entertaining property that has pulled off that balancing act as well as The End Times of Bram & Ben.  The dynamic crew from the first issue has put their best foot forward and this final outing is just about on that same level of quality.

James Asmus and Jim Festante pen the script and the duo close things out on a somewhat strong note. There is not a finite solution here, so if anyone was assuming that this apocalypse would be solved within the span of four issues is bound to leave somewhat disappointed.  But on the bright side the stage is set for a follow-up and if the next mini-series even has a fraction of the charisma of this jaunt than we’re all in for a treat.  Beyond all that though there were some lackluster moments that ultimately felt rushed or flat out unnecessary.

Rem Broo handles the art and the exceptional talent doesn’t miss a beat.  Whether the story calls for a battle or a conversation the pencils are there to make it all believable in just the right ways.  I have absolutely no complaints here as the quirky designs and sturdy structures easily highlight the best portions of this end of days joyride.

The End Times of Bram & Ben #4 is a fitting finale that does enough to entertain its core audience as the writers set-up the next mini-series for these characters. Recommended.
