The official description from IDW:

The reassembled T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents battle Iron Maiden to a stalemate in the caverns of Kashmir while a hidden army rises below, but which side will they take? Director Kathryn Kane stands trial for her exploration of the forbidden Judgment Towers, but can T.H.U.N.D.E.R. itself survive their now-unleashed power?

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents 3_CWhat the creative team has done is built up a rendition of an aged franchise, in a way that’s both accessible and familiar.  If you’ve never heard of this title before now don’t worry, just jump in and enjoy the experience because from the first page to the final panel there’a a lot worth loving here.  In short: what we have is a joy that’s got plenty of corny moments, but still manages to be entertaining.

Phil Hester pens the script and the scribe does an outstanding job evolving this initial start of the re-worked property while also making it his own.  The characterizations found among out chief players yield some solid banter as the author glosses over depth, save for a few key members.  Despite that fact we’re given something that reads like an action movie with the classic tropes associated with superheroes.  We have a team carrying the name T.H.U.N.D.E.R. who’s taking on a villain called Iron Maiden, if that doesn’t excite you than allow me to say: it’s a fun zany romp that’s sure to please.

The art by Andrea Di Vito perfectly suits the text of this jaunt.  The slender line work combined with consistent execution births a visual cadence that evokes a classic rendition with some decidedly modern modifications.  From the primary leads to the background designs, the talent brings a lot of skill to these festivities.  In short: the story will keep you interested from the first scene onward but it’s the art that will sell it on another level altogether.

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #3 is an excellent comic, that delivers on its premise while giving reason to be around.  Recommended.
