Superior Spider-Man #7 Review

Following the epic previous issue our hero returns to form with this outing, but how long can Doctor Octopus keep up this little charade?  Read on to find out.

The official description from Marvel:

“Troubled Mind” Part 1

• An Avenger no more?

• With the public at large realizing this is no longer a “Friendly Neighborhood” Spider-Man, and in light of his actions in recent events, will the Avengers kick Spidey off the team? Plus the return of Cardiac!

• And a new development for a Spider-Man who hasn’t been seen for some time. And by time, we mean centuries.

• The lead up to the Spider-Event of the Summer STARTS HERE!

When it comes to the modern world the antics taken by the Superior Spider-Man may seem more in line than most people might think.  We yearn for a person who’s willing to do all that is necessary to get the job done, even if it means crossing a few morally ambiguous lines.  But there are plenty who stand up for a little restraint in the name of law and order.

Dan Slott continues his dark reign over Peter Parker.  He single handily raised the beloved heroes stature only to throw him off the proverbial balcony with his life literally being stolen.  And the beauty of it is that the author wastes no time as he jumps right into the thick of it,  he pushes the characters all over the place in order to lead us toward something that we might not be ready for. Nonetheless the script is once again exceptionally entertaining in all the right ways.

The art by Humberto Ramos is deformed, dynamic and chaotic.  Whether those apparent features sway you to be against or pro his unique style is entirely up to personal taste, but for me he’s one of my favorites.  His jagged edges and skillfully executed pencil strokes offer a level of precision that brings this latest adventure to visual splendor.  In short if you like his work you’ll love what he does here.

Superior Spider-Man #7 is an excellent entry that comes recommended.
