SDCC: Hellboy 3 is coming?

Considering the way Hellboy 2 wraped up, I think I can speak for all fanboys and fangirls out there: we all wanted a sequel to close out the story!

But after Hellboy 2 came out and grossed about 75 million domestic, 84 million overseas and Guillermo del Toro got busy doing projects, enthusiasm to make another one seemed to dissipate.  But apparently that’s in the past now because Hellboy 3 is moving a head according to its director.

Last week UTF reported on a story involving Ron Perlman and the Make a Wish Foundation (you can read about it here), and apparently that act by Ron Perlman and the Spectral Motion Studio yielded a new sense of “we got to do this” enthusiasm behind the scenes.

Which leads us to Guillermo Del Toro telling this to Entertainment Weekly this:

I can say publicly that now we are together in trying [to do Hellboy 3].

The [first] two movies were really set up to have this unbelievable resolve. Everything that was done in both movies was leading up to this destiny, written in stone, of what Hellboy has been summoned to Earth to do. To not do it, particularly in light of the scope that Guillermo is thinking of for the resolve, would be in my mind a little bit of a shame

There you have it, they’re going to try and make it!  So what do you guys think?  Are you as excited as I am for Hellboy 3?  Sound off with your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
