TMNT New Animated Adventures #11Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles New Animated Adventures has proved over it’s course to be a great companion to the fabulous TV series, allowing fans of said series who aren’t comic fans to try out this form of media. The stories themselves aren’t the greatest TMNT stories ever told but they are certainly fun and entertaining, being terrific one-shot thrill rides.

Derek Fridolfs handles the script for this issue with Jackson Lanzing writing the back story. In the main story Fridolfs does a good job of giving us a fun and entertaining tale befitting of the animated series. The way he captures Mikey’s light-hearted nature along with the concept of a TMNT becoming a superhero brilliantly. The story itself was however far from perfect as the overall pacing was a little erratic. Though to be fair that’s expected with one-shots. The back-up story from Lanzing on the other hand failed to impress me as though I liked seeing Kraang the story itself was rather poor.

Dario Brizuela produces some shell shocking artwork on this issue that matches the look and tone of the animated series perfectly. The dynamic flow of his art also adds to the excitement and alongside the charming character expressions it gives a visual class that brings a smile to the long time fans face. We also get some radical art from Chad Thomas with his work on the back-up story being energetic to say the least. Both artists work are also enhanced by stunning colours from Heather Breckel which give a vibrant finish.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles New Animated Adventures series is a great addition for fans of the TV series but old school TMNT fans who can only afford one series should stick to the ongoing. This issue does however overall get a recommendation from me.
