The official description from Image:

Tech Jacket’s newest adventure brings him in touch with the Colossal…but is this massive ship the vanguard of an alien invasion, or something more sinister? Your mind, prepare to be blown!

TechJacket02_Page3Tech Jacket kicked off it’s much needed renewed ongoing series in a fantastic fashion, giving us fun and exciting start to this new series. The most enticing thing about this new series however is the freshness of it, as though it keeps all the fun and quirky things that make the character loveable, it also gives something new and unique. Quickly picking up from last issues gripping climax, this issue sees Zack delve into the sentient ship, finding something very unexpected.

Joe Keatinge continues to capture the charm that made the original series a hit, with the character of Zack remaining as humorous as ever. Despite this I did feel the issue as a whole was a little lackluster, as despite overall being thoroughly enjoyable, I felt that it spent too much time in certain areas. One thing I did extremely enjoy about the issue was yet another look into Zack’s childhood, showing his fascination for space, as well as his father’s desire to do right by his son.

Khary Randolph once again delivers a very lighthearted tone to this series, with his soft pencils giving a charming vibe to the characters within. His layouts also prove very enticing, with the smooth, yet dynamic flow enhancing the fun nature of the series. The area in which Randolph most exceeds however is in the character expressions, with his sharp inks, and rough shading giving a more subtle look. Combine this with the popping colours of Dave McCaig and you get vibrant visuals that support the script brilliantly.

The revival of Tech Jacket continues to prosper, as though there were some sequences that were stretched thin, the overall fun feel is what the series needs. Recommended.
