Superman Unchained #6 Review

There’s a lot happening, but should you care if the man of tomorrow succeeds? Read on to find out.

The official description from DC:

The Man of Tomorrow and the Superman of yesterday go at it – no holds barred!

Supes goes full throttle after his would-be ally, Wraith, in a seismic battle ranging from deep space to the ocean’s floor and ultimately the core of the earth!

Meanwhile, Lois Lane holds the key to defeating Ascension, but she needs to reach the Fortress of Solitude to ensure its safekeeping – not to mention hers! And she’s being pursued by a heavily armed force, and it isn’t Ascension!

Superman Unchained 6_Preview Page 1The point of this entire franchise was to push our iconic hero to his limits in a gauntlet that would test his mantle and abilities ten fold. And as the last entry closed we saw something many people around the world fear might one day happen: a massive and global nuclear strike.

I recognize that quite a lot of the resolutions found within are more than a bit corny, but I can’t help it if the written word by Scott Snyder got me cheering for our big blue boy scout. He takes our heroic alien and pushes him to a near breaking point as the uneasy alliance with Wraith shatters and Superman takes it all on to try and save our world. In one single issue the case is made for why Kal-El matters, and trust me he absolutely does.

Precipice” is illustrated by industry legend Jim Lee. Once again we’re treated with a dazzling display that echoes the very best efforts this particular talent can muster. We see lavishly detailed panels, hulking players and just enough action to muster the gumption of the last son of Krypton. Add in the dynamic colors done by Alex Sinclair and this is without a doubt one of the best looking comics this week!

Superman Unchained #6 is exciting material that should be on your pull-list without question. So go on and grab a cape then head to your local shop, trust me you won’t regret it. Recommended.
