Starlight #3 Review

What will happen when Duke returns to Tantalus? Read on to find out.

The official description from Image:

Duke and his young companion begin their first adventure together! To the people of Tantalus, Duke is a hero and savior. Now, he’s their last chance to vanquish the new menace that has invaded the peace-loving world he left behind. But four decades have passed: Duke’s not the young man he once was, and the enemy he faces is more powerful than anything he faced in the good old days. The stakes are raised, and the weight of Duke’s own conscience might be his heaviest burden yet!

Starlight #3 variantStarlight has been a very impressive series so far being a worthwhile addition to Millarworld. The development of the character Duke has been one that has really gripped me as though this issue itself didn;t give a huge amount of progress to his tale we still see his heroism as well as his desire to do what’s right.

Mark Millar once again produces the goods as though some of his series have declined in quality over their runs Starlight has remained pretty consistent so far. The way that he shows the characters individual natures along with their dialogue add real power and depth to the issue as with the issue slightly lacking on the development side it was nice to see that the characters were still strong. Millar also did a terrific job of introducing the villain of the series, Lord Kingfisher who proved to be very intimidating and menacing.

The artwork from Goran Parlov has yet to disappoint with his quirky style being a marvel to view. I especially enjoy how Parlov captures the tone of the story as along with his impactful layouts it gives a impressive look to this tale. He also yet again delivered brilliantly with the emotion with the intensity or in Kingfisher’s case lack off being really impressive. We also yet again get wonderfully bold colours from Ive Svorcina with his block style accompanying Parlov’s art brilliantly.

Starlight continues to impress as though there wasn’t a vast amount of development within this issue what the stuff we got was truly amazing. Highly recommended.
