Raiders. Slavers. A gigantic Spreadworm. A hungry baby. No has problems.

Spread02_Page2Spreading from it’s amazing opening issue, Spread #2 delves deeper into this post-apocalyptic world, showing just what No has gotten himself into. Having a deep, emotional story, Spread quickly proves to be the next epic series to feature infected creatures, giving a more unique twist to the overused zombie genre. Add this to the compelling plot, and you get something truly wonderful.

Justin Jordan has probably produced his best work yet on this series, as though both Dead Body Road and Luther Strode amazed, Spread astounds. Jordan does however lower the intensity slightly in this issue, with the focus being more on character development, and general world building. That isn’t a bad thing however, as along with the introduction of Molly (who was mentioned briefly during last issue), and the gripping narration it remains captivating.

Kyle Strahm really impressed me with his artwork for the opening issue, with the attention to detail blowing me away. He does the exact same with this issue, with his graphic pencils and intense inks giving the kind of vibe that this story needs. He also manages to capture the emotion of the characters perfectly, showing the craziness of Molly, the emptiness of No, and the childlike innocence of Hope perfectly. Combine all this with Felipe Sobreiro‘s rich colour palette, and you really get something epic.

Spread continues to…. well spread, with the intense story, and wonderful character development making it a series that’s easily loveable, gore and all. Highly recommended.
