The official description from Marvel:

Spotlighting Marvel’s BIGGEST star! No, we’re not talking about Iron Man! Not Captain America! Not Thor! It’s Rocket Raccoon! The madcap mammal takes on the cosmos in an all-new FREE COMIC BOOK DAY adventure!

FCBDALLAGE2014-int2-2-826e0Rocket Raccon is a much loved character who just so happens to be featuring in an upcoming film as well as having his own ongoing series. It’s this that makes him the perfect character to feature in Marvel’s FCBD issue allowing people to get a feel for what the series might be like. The issue also features another cosmic story staring Spider-Man, Black Panther, Nova, Iron Fist and Power Man.

Joe Caramagna scripts both stories and I have to say he did a stellar job. The overall light-heartedness of both tales really put a smile on my face as though the stories themselves weren’t anything to write home about the fun nature really appealed to me. Naturally it was the Rocket story that I enjoyed the most with his erratic escapade being humorous to say the least. In saying that it still wasn’t enough to persuade me to get the upcoming series as though I love the character I feel Guardians of the Galaxy is still enough Rocket for me.

The artwork on this issue was split between Adam Archer who handled the Rocket Raccoon story and Ty Templeton who produced the goods for the bonus story. Both artists gave outstanding work with it really suiting this fun all ages issue. Once again it was the art from the Rocket adventure that captivated me the most with the sleek and dynamic flow being perfect. Archer’s art was also helped by John Rauch‘s impressive colours which gave a stunning overtone and finish.

Rocket Raccoon‘s Free Comic Book Day issue is a fun escape for this comic book fan as though I don’t plan on getting his ongoing series I was not disappointed with this marvellous tale. Highly recommended.
