What happens when you say yes to a date? Or get drunk with your teammates? Or you ask yourself, “Am I really making a difference?” Well if you want to find out, read on.

There is something to be said about a comic book that has three different stories within its pages. Sometimes it can be a hard balancing act, with only having a certain amount of pages to tell those stories. However, Catalyst Comix #4 does do this but was kind of lackluster.

Joe Casey does a great job with balancing the three stories of Amazing Grace, Agents of Change, and Frank “Titan” Wells.  He takes us on a journey with Amazing Grace, showing the true intention of the mysterious man that has asked her on a date. He shows us the human side to the Agents of Change while they are at bar, allowing us to see that Superhero’s can have a party side too. Finally, he shows us how much someone like Frank Wells can do but still question if it matters. Casey tells us these stories, but to some degree it was not very exciting. The stories helped move the characters to a place that will make future issues very exciting but this one fell short on keeping me totally engaged.

Dan McDaid, Ulises Farinas, and Paul Maybury do a fantastic job of illustrating the three different stories. The three different styles stand out as separate pieces but work well interweaving together. Even though I feel that this was a flat issue, I felt that the art helped step it up to.

Overall, I thought this issue was not as great as its predecessor, but it does set it up for some exciting story arcs. I do think that, after you read it, you will understand why this issue is a stepping stone. I give it a 3 out of 5.
