Mind the Gap #17 Review

Will more mysteries surrounding Jairus be revealed? Read on to find out.

The official description from Image:

MIND THE GAP – ACT II has just begun!

After last issue’s shocking reveal, is Jairus limited to just Elle? And the questions on everyone’s minds — where is Elle, and is she alive or dead? — are mounting as one person considers the ultimate act of betrayal.

Mind the Gap #17 variantIt’s been a few months since the last issue of Mind the Gap and given the fact that this is only the second instalment of Act II that’s quite some wait. Whether it’s worth the wait or not is a completely different question. The issue itself is good enough to merit a delayed schedule but not enough to merit one quite as delayed.

Jim McCann produces yet another suspenseful script following up from last issues reveal perfectly. The intense opening to his script ironically allows the issue to be relatively new reader friendly with the chaos and mayhem giving a fresh look into the series. McCann also (as usual) plays the mysterious notes of the series brilliantly with the added twists and turns bringing up some interesting questions. The overall pacing of the issue was however far from perfect as though it was good it was a little too quick at times with transitions feeling a little too sudden.

Rodin Esquejo as usual gives us stunning art with his realistic and beautiful look never failing to impress. The overall sleek and mesmerising tone along with the dynamic layouts make this a joy to view. The way that Esquejo has conveyed the emotion and the tension of these characters is simply wonderful and especially when it comes to Elle with her expressions being fabulous. The colours from Jessica Kholinne of Stellar Labs also add to the overall beauty of Mind the Gap’s artwork with it giving a sleek and smooth overtone.

Mind the Gap Act II continues to add mystery and suspense to this fine series and though we’ve had to wait a while to receive it, it’s not disappointed. Highly recommended.
