How will Reynard get out of the mess he’s in? Read on to find out.

The official description from Vertigo:

A moment of happiness for Reynard is brutally cut short in the latest chapter of “The Clamour for Glamour.” Life as a man is still not doing Reynard any favors, but can the cunning of a fox save both Reynard and Meghan from a terrible fate? Meanwhile, spells are cast at the Farm, but for some the long wait is proving too hard to bear. Can Owl find a way to lift the spirits of his beloved Pussycat as the forlorn feline dreams of escape?

Fairest #29 previewFairest‘s latest story, The Clamor for Glamor has proven to be a fun one so far, as though the subject matter may not be quite as captivating as previous tales, the execution of this tale so far has had me hooked. Following on from last issue, we see Reynard fear for his and Meghan’s life, whilst Owl tries to surprise Pussycat. Meanwhile the Glamor’s are finally ready and the lottery’s ready to begin.

Mark Buckingham has been proving to be just as good a writer as he is an artist, having created a thoroughly enjoyable tale so far. Transitioning between different events nicely, Buckingham gives a very gripping vibe to the issue, having me hooked to read more. Despite this I did find the Owl and the Pussycat tale to be a little underwhelming, as though the idea was very intriguing, it just didn’t appeal to me. I did on the other hand love Reynard’s overreaction to his predicament to be very enticing, with the nod to Fable events also being a nice touch.

Russ Braun has been doing a wonderful job of the artwork over the course of The Clamor for Glamor, as though I still feel it’d be bittersweet to have Buckingham also producing the art, Braun remains a brilliant choice otherwise. Delivering highly detailed, and charming panels throughout, Braun give a very lighthearted vibe to this issue, with the character expressions adding much needed emotion. We also once again get spectacular colours from Andrew Dalhouse, with his soft colour palette, and shading giving brilliant tone and definition to Braun’s art.

Fairest continues to be a fabulous companion to Fables, with The Clamor for Glamor storyline being very entertaining. Recommended.
