THE WALKING DEAD CREATOR ROBERT KIRKMAN WRITES INVINCIBLE!!! A new beginning for INVINCIBLE as things take a turn down a dark path. Everything changes as Invincible is betrayed by one of his own. You won’t want to miss this explosive issue #1… 1… 1! It packs the punch of THREE relaunched number one issues! IN ONE BOOK!

Invincible #111 variantInvincible has reached it’s 111th issue and it’s promised to pack the punch of three relaunched number one issues. In a lot of ways this issue lives up to that though technically it doesn’t. The issue itself is as exciting and punchy as nearly any previous instalment but at no point does it feel like a number one issue. It does however remain relatively new reader friendly as though a knowledge of past events helps it’s not totally needed to enjoy this issue.

Robert Kirkman is the master of giving devastating development points. The way that he choices casualties is very random and this definitely adds to the shock and intensity of these developments. This is no different here as though there was a couple of predictable moments for the most part it was very unpredictable. Despite this it’d be the way he handled the character reaction and interaction that impressed me the most with both Robot and Mark’s emotions and goals having a huge affect on the impact of this issue.

Ryan Ottley never fails to disappoint with his fun, energetic tone being as big a part of this series as Kirkman’s amazing scripts. In this issue Ottley also reminds us that he can also deliver when it comes to brutality with the bloody action having a vivid and explosive feel to it. Along with this he also did a tremendous job of showing the shock and tension of the characters involved with the facial expressions helping to convey the story big time. On top of this we also as ever get wonderful inks from Cliff Rathburn and outstanding colours from John Rauch.

Invincible takes a drastic turn of events with these explosive developments having a huge impact on the future of this series. Highly recommended.
