Just what is the Colossal doing to Zack Thompson? The evolution of the Tech Jacket starts here!

Tech Jacket #4Tech Jacket has been an entertaining series since it started, but last issue saw it take a serious twist of fate, going from a good series to an amazing one. Continuing in a sensational fashion, this issue proves just as exciting, with the Colossal’s plans of Zack and Nicholas Crowe’s plans for the Tech Jacket bringing with it some enticing developments. The issue also ends on a high, reintroducing a well known character to the series.

Joe Keatinge has been doing a fantastic job on this new Tech Jacket ongoing, having taken it to new heights as of the previous issue. Keatinge continues to make things more interesting, with the Colossal proving a very intense character. The way in which the text from his dialogue is laid out also catches the eye, with it’s uniqueness matching the art layout brilliantly. Despite all this the issue gave more questions than answers, and though that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it does take away marginally from the whole experience.

Khary Randolph‘s art in this issue was awesome! Having enjoyed his art through the course of this series I have grown to expect great looking panels, with some explosive moments, but the layout of Randolph’s art in this issue, with the Colossal leaving Zack in a painful looking state was out of this world. Dave McCaig‘s colours also continue to give the perfect finish to Randolph’s art, with his vibrant palette popping in both dark and lighter sequences.

Tech Jacket is quickly becoming an extraordinary series, turning from fun reading material to something very gripping. The way that Keatinge and Randolph portray the acts of this issue, along with the exciting climax really makes this an intense thrill ride, with the emerging character having me excited for the next issue. Highly recommended.
