The official description from Image:

Diana Dane is being transported by Darius Dax in the hunt for the mysterious Ethan Crane. It’s a car ride that takes her a lot further than she expects: out into the nature of the universe itself.

Supreme Blue Rose #2 previewSupreme: Blue Rose continues to show a re-invigoration to the classic Supreme world, bringing it into the modern era, and giving it an up to date look. Starting her work for Darius Dax, Diana Dane gets taken on a car ride, that ends up in a mystical place. In the meantime we are also introduced to the new version of Chelsea Henry, who most will know better as Lady Supreme, as well as another person affected by the mysterious red haired woman.

Warren Ellis has done a wonderful job of creating a new world for these classic Supreme characters, with the freshness he’s put into these opening issues being exactly what the franchise has needed. Having introduced yet another classic Supreme character in this issue, as well as building more mystery around the red haired woman, Ellis also manages to give great speculation as to where the series’ heading. Despite all this I did feel that there was a little too much going on, and ultimately it meant there wasn’t much development to Diana’s story. Nevertheless it was still a great issue, and has me hooked for the next.

Tula Lotay really blew me away with the phenomenal artwork in the opening issue, and she continues to do so here. Her detailed illustrations, and lavish layouts makes the visuals in this issue very appealing to the eye. Along with this she also gives amazing character presence, with the scenery surrounding them being nothing short of beautiful. Lotay also manages to capture the emotion of the characters perfectly as well, as whether it’s depressing, joyous or curious it’s easy to tell what the characters feeling. Her colours also yet again entice, with the watercolours texture, along with the wisps of colour throughout giving a very unique finish to her work.

Supreme: Blue Rose continues to intrigue, as though there may have been a little too much going on, it does have me enticed for more. Highly recommended.
