Prometheus: Fire and Stone #3 Review

What will happen to the group next? Read on to find out.

The official description from Dark Horse:

Chaos breaks loose when a member of the Prometheus’s recovery team is exposed to the dangerous and mysterious genetic accelerant! Now, with the crew divided and hope for survival fleeting, a terrifying discovery offers a glimpse into the fate of the Prometheus . . . and the colony on LV-426!

pmfs3p2I find myself doing something rare, and that’s admitting that a prior criticism may have been wrong. The criticism in question is that of Dark Horse’s decision to distribute Alien vs. Predator: Fire and Stone at the same time as this series, with the events spoiling this series. Though that remains somewhat true, I can’t help but find the events that lead up to what we already know that much more enticing, with Elden’s developments being particularly engaging.

Paul Tobin has transitioned this from a good series, into an amazing series. Thought the Colder writer has been doing a fabulous job of setting the foundations on which this crossover is set around, he has yet to give something extra special. That is until now, with his understanding of the Alien mythos being showing in an utterly suspenseful fashion. He also does a fabulous job of showing us the developments that other series teased, with the revelations being fascinating.

Juan Ferreyra has been producing some of his best art on this series, with every panel resonating awesomeness. He has however outdone himself here, with the suspenseful tone of his layouts allowing for a chillingly gripping flow. He also continues to do the Xenomorphs justice, and along with the transformation of Elden, it allows for some truly gritty moments. The colours also manage to give a gritty tone to these events, with Juan and Eduardo Ferreyra both doing a wonderful job.

Prometheus: Fire and Stone takes a monumental turn of events, and with only one issue left after this I can honestly say I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. Highly recommended.
