Is this really a solid entry? Read on to find out.

The official description from Zenescope:

Mercy has been thrown into the lowest circle of hell with Lucifer . . . and the only way these two former enemies will escape is to fully trust each other.

As the Realm War wages on outside of the Inferno, Lucifer and Mercy battle through monsters, demons, harpies, and things horrible enough to rip a man’s sanity free of its holds.

However, even if they do escape, who will save them from the wicked Dark Queen?

GFT Rings of Hell 2_Variant CoverAnother mini-series born from this Age of Darkness, and wouldn’t you know it? They just keep getting better and better. This particular outing focuses in on the very essence of picking sides and the glimmer hope that might still remain even in the midst of Hell itself. And the creative team plays that up as we see our protagonists put through a dark gauntlet.

Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco work with script writer Mike Wolfer to make this comic book a reality. The author pays close attention to both Lucifer and Mercy Dante as they traverse the nine rings in a prison of sin. What follows is a series of sequences that delve into the psyches of each of these women, as they slowly but surely have to face their own demons in a realm populated by monsters. It’s an interesting dynamic that’s executed well but does follow a predictable path.

The illustrations handed in by Fernando Argosino suit the text from beginning to end. The book is lavished with a solid display that’s aware of the players and their established renditions, but also knows how to properly execute some high action sequences. Add in the colors by Claudinei Ribeiro and the entire ride enjoys a vibrancy that’s downright befitting for this bout of damnation. To sum up: the art rocked!

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Inferno: Rings of Hell #2 is a release that enjoys an easy to follow plot. The characters are engaging enough to hold attention and it’s within that essence that this reality builds up its stakes. Recommended.
