As part of UnleashTheFanboy’s ongoing series of reporting on the minutest details of the upcoming Superman vs. Batman film, UnleashTheFanboy brings you what might be the answer to the question we have all had on our minds for the past… day or so:

Lex Luthor by AwesomenessDK PLOT TWIST: LEX LUTHOR Will NOT Have Hair and… Tattoos?!

Will Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor have hair? Doesn’t seem like it.

But it’s more than just that, Latino Review reports that:

Lex Luthor is BALD. His head is shaven to be exact. But that is not all. He has another physical trait. You see, Lex Luthor is also into body art and has a detailed sleeve tattoo of the Metropolis skyline on his right arm. Lex is also the richest man on the planet who became a self-made billionaire at 18. Lex is currently the CEO of Lexcorp who is one part tech genius, one part ruthless business man and two parts Metropolis street tough. Yes, street tough.

At 14 Lex was living on the streets and for survival was initiated into a street gang. He learned early on that there was someone always bigger and stronger but never smarter. By 15 that street gang was answering to him. According to Lex, strength isn’t everything. RESOLVE is.

Latino Review got this information from an earlier draft of the script, so pass everyone some salt.

But let’s try to unpack this information, anyway. We know Lex is bald, but we also know he’s into body art, specifically tattoos of city skylines. This tells us two things:

1)     This Lex Luthor is a total hipster with that tattoo.

2)     He loves Metropolis so much he got a tattoo of the city.

More importantly, though. This Lex Luthor seems to have started up his journey to fame, fortune and power as a gang leader which suggests that this part of his past may be hidden from the general populous in the movie.

Using my deductive reporter skills, this can only mean one thing: Lex Luthor is a wealthy, albeit unethical/illegitimate, businessperson who has a good enough public image; enough that people don’t think he could actually be a criminal.

Stop me if this starts to sound familiar.

And Then I Said PLOT TWIST: LEX LUTHOR Will NOT Have Hair and… Tattoos?!

But that’s not all. Latino Review also tells us some very important qualities of this Lex Luthor’s character. He thinks he’s the smartest person, like ever, because led a gang at 15 and became a self-made billionaire at 18. Yeah? Well, I write articles for a geek culture website at 19, so really, Lex isn’t as great as he thinks he is.

Nonetheless, common folk aren’t the only ones Lex looks down upon; Latino Review also tells us that he has some animosity towards the internet’s favorite billionaire, Bruce Wayne.

Lex thinks Mister Wayne is a “trust fund baby” because he was born into wealth when Lex had to “rough it” as a gang leader at 15. And when Bruce Wayne approaches Lex Luthor about coordinating with each other to rebuild Metropolis, naturally Lex Luthor has other plans for how he wants to rebuild Metropolis.

As far as this reporter can tell however, this information suggests that this Lex Luthor’s direction is going the way of more recent interpretations of the character, combining many of the best traits of the character from 1986’s Man of Steel, 2003’s Superman: Birthright, the Smallville television show and 2009’s Superman: Secret Origin.

“Superman vs. Batman” will be out in the US on May 6th, 2016.

Keep it UnleashTheFanboy for more Lex Luthor hair news. What next? Will we find out what color ties he likes to wear?

If you’re going to call yourself a “reporter” then at least write like one. How about you start by rewording the title?

“Lex Luthor Will Have NOT Hair”

    Come on, that’s a gimme.

  • Rehab

Hipster Luther will destroy the world by letting us do it with global warming.

    God I hate Eisenberg.

    • TheGoddamnBader

Letting us doing it with global warming is way too mainstream. It’s gotta be something else.

  • wat

These sites love to promote rumors for pageviews.

    • The Walking Cuban

The description automatically blows any chance of avoiding spoilers (if they’re right), to the point that you don’t even get the chance to avoid it. Don’t even gotta click on it. Aggravating.

      • wat

I hope they’re not right. I understand new interpretations of characters but that’s a bit too much of a stray from the source material.

        • The Walking Cuban

I can’t see Jesse wesse makin it past gettin jumped in. I mean gangsters that get rich usually look like Tony soprano or jay z. In a word, cool. If they really want to stray from the social network to the point that he’s not a recognizable lex Luthor… Then what was the point of casting Jesse Eisenberg in the first place? Cuz they’re in a hole n all they got is a shovel.

          • TheGoddamnBader

I think Lex was always sort of a gangster in all of his interpretations – the only difference this time, I think, is that he first got into crime at a very young age.

I don’t know about The Social Network comparison because I’ve never seen it, I’ve heard someone express that opinion before, though.

          • The Walking Cuban

I guess a comic book gangster to me is more like Kingpin, to where everyone knows he’s crooked but he’s a feared individual, whereas lex seems slicker, more dangerous even. I mean who are Fisk’s enemies? Punisher, Spider-Man, and daredevil, whereas lex fights SUPERMAN. That’d be like kingpin vs. Hulk.

As for TSN, you should definitely watch it, especially now that old boy’s playing old boy (not park chan wook’s or spike lee’s, you catch my drift), and I have this to say about it: I like it a LOT. He did great in that role, and armie hammer and Timberlake were amazing. Even Spider-man was pretty good.

          • TheGoddamnBader

Yeah, I agree. I definitely imagine a Kingpin-esque feel to this Lex Luthor. Except one where the public is mostly on his side.

I’ll definitely check it out in anticipation of this movie, thanks!

          • The Walking Cuban

If Snyder can nab Trent Reznor for the soundtrack, then I’m all in, because the social network has one of the best scores ever, no exaggeration. It’d be more than an improvement on man of steel’s, I mean, just watch TSN and imagine superman’s classic theme to the 9th (inch nail) power. That’s your homework assignment lol

          • TheGoddamnBader

            On it, chief.

          • wat

I like Eisenberg as Luthor. I think he’s a bit too young but whatever. His face conveys the cold evil mastermind that Lex Luthor is quite well.

          • The Walking Cuban

I do too. The hole is geek reaction in general. The social network is all I need though too to be convinced

          • wat

It’s sad we have to wait another two years just for the fanboys to shaddap

          • The Walking Cuban

I’m a geek n all but I just don’t get all worked up. Some people get very angry. And mean. I like movies. But when they suck, my stocks don’t plummet, nobody at my house jumps out if skyscrapers. I just get disappointed, and eat pizza, and I’m fine.

          • wat

Exactly. And they think they’re so right. As if their opinion really holds any weight over the casting directors who get PAID to do it lol

          • The Walking Cuban

Yeah it’s really strange. We don’t pull strings… And yet, the internet carries a lot of weight

          • AL

cause as you very well know, casting directors always cast the perfect person for the role. They are never wrong. :)

          • wat

Obviously some do terrible jobs but for the most part they do their jobs well which is why they have the job in the first place.

      • TheGoddamnBader

Sorry to hear you couldn’t enjoy the article because of the spoilers. I’ll try to circle around the more spoilery bits next time. To tell you the truth I neglected to put a spoiler alert at the top. Fixed that now. Thanks!

        • The Walking Cuban

          Sure and thanks

    • TheGoddamnBader

It’s shocking, isn’t it? It’s almost like media is a business.
Sad to see you didn’t enjoy the article, though!

      • wat

Lol, nothing personal against you. It’s just that all these sites jump all over every Batman vs. Superman rumor that pops and mass promote them. I know it’s your job but…

        • TheGoddamnBader

I don’t take things personally. I jump all over every Batman vs. Superman rumor partly so I can make fun of them, and partly because it looks like so much fun when other websites do it!

          • The Walking Cuban

Truly if I wanted to REALLY avoid spoilers, I’d just stay off the internet lol, so keep up the good work

          • TheGoddamnBader

But the internet still wants you around! And thank you.

          • The Walking Cuban

            Ha, you’re welcome

          • Andrew Arnold

Gotta respect the fact that there ain’t no shame in yo’ game!

          • TheGoddamnBader

            Thanks!
