PLOT TWIST: LEX LUTHOR Will NOT Have Hair and… Tattoos?!

*Warning: Potential spoilers contained in this article.

As part of UnleashTheFanboy’s ongoing series of reporting on the minutest details of the upcoming Superman vs. Batman film, UnleashTheFanboy brings you what might be the answer to the question we have all had on our minds for the past… day or so:

Will Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor have hair? Doesn’t seem like it.

But it’s more than just that, Latino Review reports that:

Lex Luthor is BALD. His head is shaven to be exact. But that is not all. He has another physical trait. You see, Lex Luthor is also into body art and has a detailed sleeve tattoo of the Metropolis skyline on his right arm. Lex is also the richest man on the planet who became a self-made billionaire at 18. Lex is currently the CEO of Lexcorp who is one part tech genius, one part ruthless business man and two parts Metropolis street tough. Yes, street tough.

At 14 Lex was living on the streets and for survival was initiated into a street gang. He learned early on that there was someone always bigger and stronger but never smarter. By 15 that street gang was answering to him. According to Lex, strength isn’t everything. RESOLVE is.

Latino Review got this information from an earlier draft of the script, so pass everyone some salt.

But let’s try to unpack this information, anyway. We know Lex is bald, but we also know he’s into body art, specifically tattoos of city skylines. This tells us two things:

1)     This Lex Luthor is a total hipster with that tattoo.

2)     He loves Metropolis so much he got a tattoo of the city.

More importantly, though. This Lex Luthor seems to have started up his journey to fame, fortune and power as a gang leader which suggests that this part of his past may be hidden from the general populous in the movie.

Using my deductive reporter skills, this can only mean one thing: Lex Luthor is a wealthy, albeit unethical/illegitimate, businessperson who has a good enough public image; enough that people don’t think he could actually be a criminal.

Stop me if this starts to sound familiar.

And Then I Said I'm a legitimate businessman

But that’s not all. Latino Review also tells us some very important qualities of this Lex Luthor’s character. He thinks he’s the smartest person, like ever, because led a gang at 15 and became a self-made billionaire at 18. Yeah? Well, I write articles for a geek culture website at 19, so really, Lex isn’t as great as he thinks he is.

Nonetheless, common folk aren’t the only ones Lex looks down upon; Latino Review also tells us that he has some animosity towards the internet’s favorite billionaire, Bruce Wayne.

Lex thinks Mister Wayne is a “trust fund baby” because he was born into wealth when Lex had to “rough it” as a gang leader at 15. And when Bruce Wayne approaches Lex Luthor about coordinating with each other to rebuild Metropolis, naturally Lex Luthor has other plans for how he wants to rebuild Metropolis.

As far as this reporter can tell however, this information suggests that this Lex Luthor’s direction is going the way of more recent interpretations of the character, combining many of the best traits of the character from 1986’s Man of Steel, 2003’s Superman: Birthright, the Smallville television show and 2009’s Superman: Secret Origin.

“Superman vs. Batman” will be out in the US on May 6th, 2016.
