Original Sin #1 Review

Original Sin is Marvel’s new comic event that is flying off the shelves, but is it worth reading? Find out here.

WHO SHOT THE WATCHER?
The Watcher, the mysterious space-god who’s been watching us from the moon for as long as we can remember… is dead. Thus begins the greatest murder mystery in Marvel Comics history.
As Nick Fury leads the heroes of the Marvel Universe in an investigation, other forces are marshaling as well and other questions are arising. Why is Black Panther gathering a secret team of his own, including Emma Frost, the Punisher and Dr. Strange? Who is the Unseen? What was the Original Sin? What was stolen from the Watcher’s lair? And most importantly, who now holds the Marvel Universe’s darkest secrets in the palm of their hand?

So we have the newest Marvel event starting with Original Sin #1 and I have to say that it’s “okay”. We have, The Watcher, whoOriginal_Sin_2_Cover see everything in all the universe, dead. This causes stirs between a whole bunch of characters. It is decided that, The Avengers, will figure out who has killed this mystical being but they aren’t the only ones that have taken notice. The Black Panther is tapped by a mysterious person that assembles a whole team together of unlikely hero, including, Moon Knight, Gamora, and more. It is a big group of heroes, all after the perp behind it all.

Okay, so the reason that I said it was “okay” is because it is jumpy and really slow. The flow feels very off, there is death and then it jumps from one scene to the other, without a lot of explanation. It, kind of, just drags til the end of the issue.  However, there are some cool things that happen. The tag team of the super hero’s is very good and the unusual pairings of some the heroes is really great.

The art is very good. The vast array of characters and settings is uniquely presented. Every panel flows with vivid detail and highlights that really bring the story to life.

Original Sin is full of big heroes and great teams but does start a little too slow. However, I recommend giving it a shot.
