NYCC 2012: NOVA Returns to Comics in 2013

A long time ago, the cosmic corner of the Marvel universe got an event and some major attention.  Following Annihilation an ongoing monthly series surfaced which eventually led to another one and several more epic events and mini-series until it all came to an end (more or less) with the Thanos Imperative.

But that was some time ago, and fans have waited patiently for another dip into the intergalactic waters, thankfully we now know it’s coming sooner than you think.  The House of Ideas today announced a new ongoing Nova series starring a character fresh off his AVX debut, Sam Alexander.

According to an article by Newsarama:

Also launching in February is Nova, a flagship character in the cosmic corner of the Marvel Universe and someone who played an integral role in the recently concluded Avengers Vs. X-Men event series. Loeb, who will write this in addition to guiding Marvel’s television ambitions, joins with an artist who worked with him on numerous series fromSuperman/Batman to Hulk and last Spring’s Avengers: X-Sanction, Ed McGuinness. In this new series, Loeb and McGuinness will showcase a new teenager under the Nova helmet, Sam Alexander.

Yes this is a different character and a new suit, but I’m thoroughly excited about the possibilities.  But what do you guys think?  Are you going to give this book a go or does it sound like a terrible idea?  Is it too early to make a call one way or the other?  Sound off with your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
