MICHAEL CHABON to Form Epic Alliance With MATT FRACTION on “Casanova”

I just read a book with no pictures! It was a really thick book too, 639 pages, and heavy, veeeeery heavy. The book I am talking about is The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon. Once I started reading it, I got sucked in and couldn’t stop. It is the most amazing book I have ever read. Even though it had no pictures, it was all about comics; the birth of the industry, what it was like for early creators, and their struggles for creative rights. The book had me crying at times, it was that good.

Its writer Michael Chabon is a comic genius. He is a comic fanboy like you and me, and is essentially a comic historian. His book was dedicated to Jack Kirby and its main characters mirrored the lives of Will Eisner, Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Stan Lee, and Jim Steranko. Kavlalier and Clay won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and its success gave many outsiders a new found respect for the comic industry.

Chabon is going to write backup stories for the fourth volume of Matt Fraction, Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon’s spi-fi series Cassanova! “When Casanova returns at the end of the year, the main story by Moon and me will be backed up by shorts created by Michael Chabon and Bá” Fraction stated on his blog.

Chabon also wrote the acclaimed novels Wonder Boys and The Yiddish Policeman’s Union. This is not his first journey into actual comics. He teamed with Dark Horse comics for the Eisner Award winning Michael Chabon Presents the Amazing Adventures of the Escapist, and the miniseries The Escapists, written by Brian K. Vaughan. Chabon later worked on DC Comics’ JSA: All-Stars #7 and Batman: Death by Design.

I am totally geeking out. I wish I was as cool as Michael Chabon!
