Marvel Now UPDATE!

Marvel saw what DC was doing today and was like, Shit we publish comic books too! Lets drop some news on those guys so they remember we exist. The first item in question deals with Captain America. The first few issues of the newly relaunched series have been rough to say the least. A major factor of the series not living up too it’s true potential has been penciller John Romita Jr. Usually the man turns in some awesome pencils, but on America’s favorite super soldier the art did not quite work. The reason why being the character Ian, a young boy that has joined Steve Rogers on his latest adventure. The youth in question has looked more like a girl than a boy, Ian also has a huge freaking head. Luckily for us the artist is being switched out in issue #11 with Carlos Pacheco. The new penciller is a veteran of the industry that has been working in comics since 1991. His style is so clean that it feels even more modern than when he started drawing. Writer Rick Remender had this to say about the spectacular artist,

I’m a big fan of Carlos’ work going back to his work on books like “Starjammers” and “Avengers Forever.” He has a very crisp and clean style and is very versatile. He’s a great fit, because when we come back to Earth in this next arc, I want there to be this crisp and clean aesthetic. Editor Tom Brevoort and I spent a lot of time looking at the work of a lot of artists and decided on Carlos to get the book back to a classic Captain America feel. Issue #11 will be sort of a brand-new day for “Captain America.”

Plus, Carlos is an amazing storyteller with a dynamic style. We’ve got a lot of exciting stuff coming up in this arc, including the Weapon Minus Program, Doctor Mind Bubble, the Iron Nail, and in the center of it all is Nuke. I think when people see what Carlos has been doing, they’ll be blown away. I know I have been.

Now that the good news is out of the way, here is something vague. In Marvel Now! the big Infinity event will soon be upon us. A new team of Avengers is going to be formed for the storyline. The image seems to tease the characters as a team that will be formed in or going to be in space at some point. Writer Jonathan Hickman has said that Thanos is going to be half of the threat in the event. So the question is whether this new team is being brought together to battle the big purple cheese, or something else entirely? Luke Cage was the first big reveal in this new team. The image below is the first in a series of teasers revealing the superhero and team.
