Madame Frankenstein #2 Review

With the new creature being created, what could go wrong? Right? Read on to find out more.

Now that he has built his creature, Vincent has to start teaching her how to be a lady. Meanwhile, his rival, feeling guilty over the death of their mutual love, begins to investigate what’s going on down at the lab.

The last issue dealt with the creation of a monster because of a bad thing that happened allowing for this creature MadameFrankenstein_02-1to be born. It started just like a Frankenstein story, but now this is where “Madame Frankenstein”, really starts to shine. Dr. Krall has created the monster but without the knowledge and ability to fully, he is having to re-teach his former love. It tends to be harder than he thought. The nice thing that we see is the frustration and hurt that occurs because of this. I mean we have his love that was and having to re-teach her is something that would be difficult and we see that emotion. The other great aspect is the other man being thrown into the mix. Dr. Krall’s rival is being thrown because he loved the woman too and he is starting to figure out, which will be more interesting later on.

Jamie Rich has a way of crafting a story that allows for some previous mythology but adds a new dynamic to something that has been done a million times before. I was worried that it was going to be staying the same path of Frankenstein but it is has diverged greatly and has new emotions to bring to the table. The only problem that I have is that the time spent on Dr. Krall’s internal struggle, it’s kind of too much. However, this is a small part.

Megan Levens is still delivering awesome pages. The line and curves that she uses in the story add dynamic and flair on a whole different level. She knows how to pop certain parts but, also, keep less important parts at bay. She is fantastic.

Madame Frankenstein #2 adds a new level to the familiar story.
