Judge Dredd: Mega City 2 #1 Review

What happens when Dredd is the fish out of water? Read on to find out.

“Dredd heads Californee way! As part of a judicial exchange program, Dredd is sent packing to Mega-City Two, a sprawling city covering 5,000 square miles of the Californian West Coast and centered in what was once known as Los Angeles, where he soon discovers that they do things differently there.”

So, when a character is taken out of their comfort zone and put into something that is totally different then what they are use too, then it becomes very exciting and this issue of Dredd is no different. I loved this issue not only because we see Dredd in a different place but MC201also, because there is a lot of social commentary on this issue about the way people act in “futuristic” California. Dredd tries to bring his Mega-city one attitude to this city and it is something that the people of Mega-City Two are not use to. In fact, they have this excitement attitude about it and because they are being filmed believe that it will help their career. It is very funny and interesting. I am not sure what Dredd is going to do. Also, the reason Dredd is there is because of a Judge exchange but there is another mission that is going beneath it but I won’t ruin that. Overall, it is a very cool issue.

The writing for this is awesome. It is very funny, and delievers the social commentary of social media and the media, in general, and exploits it, just like it exploits everything else. I mean, it is awesome and completely believable. I have to say that the writing was spot on and very accurate to the way that people really are in our society.

The art is very elaborate and detailed in this issue. You will see when you read it yourself  but the detail is doing some awesome things and really gives you a feel for the city. It’s cluttered and very overdone. I loved it.

I have to say that this issue gets a five out of five for everything that it accomplished.
