It Girl & The Atomics #4 Review

It Girl has learned the identity of LaLa Wah-Wah, but what does this revelation mean?

Here is the summary from Image:

“DARK STREETS, SNAP CITY” Part Four
LaLa Wah Wah has It Girl right where she wants her: under her boot! The truth about who this mysterious inter-dimensional villain really is comes to light, and the Atomics will have to rally everything they have to stop her. Featuring art from the Eisner-winning team behind Battlepug!

It Girl & The Atomics have found out that the true identity of the digital villain turned real. LaLa Wah-Wah is actually It Girl’s sister Nana AKA Lava Girl. The long thought departed heroine has apparently returned and has sworn vengeance on her dear younger sister. But all is not what it seems with the newly resurrected villainess.

Jamie S. Rich continues to do good narrative work in the first story arc of this new spin-off series. Although the book does suffer from a couple confusing continuity problems if you have never read it’s father book Madman. Though the story more or less is contained to make it as coherent as possible. The dynamic between the sisters and the back story about what happened to Nana is interesting as well. Providing some nice character development for Luna (It Girl).

Mike Allred’s art is stellar as always. Never skipping a bit with each character looking well defined and distinctive, and detailed enviorments. Nothing is out of place as the scenes flow nicely from panel to panel. Allen Passalaqua’s colors pop off the page, with nice vibrant colors for the heroes and dark yet still vibrant hues and shades for the villains.

Despite a few confusing moments and narrative hiccups It Girl & The Atomics is still an enjoyable series with distinct characters, nice, sometimes big environments, a visually appealing art style and plenty of action and humor to keep you entertained,. While this issue fell a bit short of the mark, I still recommend this book for superhero story lovers.
