Halo: Escalation #7 Review

How do you deal with the loss of a loved one when they are wiped out in a flash? Well Thorne is dealing with this now.

“The Fall of New Phoenix”—eight months ago, an attack on Earth left seven million dead, including the family of Spartan Gabriel Thorne. Today the city has been opened from quarantine, and Thorne is going home to see what’s left . . . and what it has to do with the Master Chief.”

This seems to be a hard issue of the Halo series because it is all about 22707closure and trying to move on. The story starts with the Thorne having some issues of the dream like state, where he is experiencing his life in New Phoenix before his time with the Infinity. It is something that is both troubling and hard for him but when Grant agrees to accompany him to the reopening of the New Phoenix state. A lot of emotions go into this and tries its hardest to make us feel something for these characters. It is very nice, also, there is some emotion with Grant and it works really nicely with the Thorne part.

The writing for the issue is good. It does an awesome job of bringing forth the emotions that make us feel for the characters and bring forth attachment. It is really nice. I have one issue with this because it feels really rushed in this issue. It doesn’t give us a full level of attachment that I wanted because it moving so quickly. It takes away and distracts which isn’t great. However, there is some fantastic moments, that bring it back.

The art is really great. It feels emotional and really adds to the writing. The colors are vivid from panel to panel. I really like it.

Halo: Escalation is a fantastic series but does have some issues
