Hack/Slash: Son of Sam Hain #5 Review

With Delroy dead Cassie and October must take on the monsters themselves but it won’t be that easy. Read on to find out more.

The shocking, slash-packed conclusion to SON OF SAMHAIN! Has Cassie found a new partner or her killer?!

HackSlashSonofSamhain05-Page2-45175This has been an interesting arc that is coming to its end. I will say straight up I am a little disappointed that this ending because, even though I liked the other issues, I think that this issue really shows the potential that this new team has. I want to see more. The issue starts with Cassie and October recovering from their friend’s death but with the impending monster invasion they have a choice to make fight or leave. Cassie leaves this decision up to October and, of course, he makes the right one. Then we are introduced to a new character that was a friend of Delroy. With that all three of them take on the monsters and it is very action packed. I don’t want to ruin it because I think that you REALLY should read this issue but I will say that it is very familiar of Cassie’s other fights, which is really cool. I really hope we get more from either of the Seelys.

Michael Moreci and Steve Seeley really bring it for this issue. They give us some things that we remember from the other series but, then, bring us something new. The best part is when Cassie seems a little vulnerable when she gives October the choice to leave or fight. It is a very sweet moment. I think that if they get to do another arc that we will really see this team shine. I do hope we get some slasher next time but that isn’t necessary.

Emilio Laiso is a great artist. He brings the feel of the issue. It takes place in very dark settings and brings us those things.

Hack/Slash ends with a bang in a way Hack/Slash can.
