Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland #9 Review

Can our lead characters really survive the dire situations they now find themselves stuck in? Read on to find out.
The official description from Zenescope:

Calie and Violet find themselves face to face with the cannibalistic flower girls from Wonderland who are intent on using them for their own diabolical designs. It’s up to Calie to find a way to defeat them and save Violet or become just another flower in their garden of madness. Elsewhere in Wonderland, The Queen of Spades has the Red Queen right where she wants her but is her victory assured or will the Red Queen find a way to overcome the darkness that threatens to consume Wonderland. The best selling and critically-acclaimed ongoing Wonderland series continues here!

When approaching this world and the people within it there is an inherent desire to exploit the madness to deliver something truly disturbing. But thankfully this creative team understands when to dive into that pool of chaos and when to instead focus in on other available paths as this latest release demonstrates.

The script by Raven Gregory is a top notch exercise of skill as the different avenues of this plot get moved forward while offering believable dangers for our primary and secondary cast members. The dialogue is one of the strongest aspects, as the text offers up conversations and inherent character actions that pull this addicting jaunt toward whatever endgame the author is currently setting up for. There were a few moments where pages felt rather bloated as an information barrage bogged down the pace but these instances were few and far between.

EJ Morges and Sheldon Goh handle the art as the duo seamlessly captures the unique properties associated with the Wonderland franchise. In simple ways their pencil strokes offer details and captivating moments that were just oozing with insanity. From the first page to the final panel I was instantly engrossed by what was offered as the talented artists matched the quality of the narrative.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland #9 is yet another engaging entry from an enthralling corner of this shared universe. Recommended.
