The official description from Zenescope:

Calie and Violet have located the mythic Ebony Blade, the weapon responsible for ending the terrible reign of the Jabberwocky, and for once it seems the odds are in their favor. But don’t expect their luck to last long as they come face to face with the new Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat in a battle that will shake the foundations of the Wonderland universe.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland 19_CThere’s just something innately engrossing about this corner of the Grimm Fairy Tales universe. Maybe it’s the horror elements combined with the unique family drama, whatever the case may be I found myself falling into this pile of madness. And to the creative team’s credit they delivered yet another issue that stands up as something worthy of both attention and praise.

Pat Shand and Raven Gregory combine their talents to continue this war against a truly chaotic realm. We see both our antagonists and protagonists pushed into some very harrowing situations, but I did find some of the interactions to a bit overblown with unnecessary acts. That said the opening with the Madder Hatter dipping into her own twisted psyche got me really excited for whatever these dynamic authors have in store for the popular title. To sum up: this is a good script with just enough meat to its bones to make anyone giddy with excitement.

Let’s start this off right by saying what really matters: the art by J.G. Miranda fits the text from start to finish. Sure there are some panels where faces or bodily features seem a tad bit underdeveloped or awkward but these hiccups do little to hinder the visual component. Add in the expert colors by Leonardo Paciarotti and you have a recipe for a nicely rendered affair. In the end the pictures are great.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland #19 is a really good comic book that successfully offers up some outstanding sequences that are sure to keep their core audience more than happy. Recommended.
