Well, this is my review of A Distant Soil #42 and I have to say that I am disappointed by it, especially because the series is coming to anSTK616685.jpg.size-285_maxheight-285_square-true end. Let’s see, the issue starts off with the whole gang dealing with a big massacre of some of the hierarchy, and that’s about it. I would say spoiler alert because that’s what I usually do but on the other hand there isn’t enough in this issue for me to spoil. There is an exciting part but it happens on the last two pages at the end and isn’t enough to redeem it.

Now, usually, I am a fan Colleen Doran but this isn’t her best work by any means. Throughout this whole series, she has taken you on twists and turns and it has been excellent to read but this is a place where it falls short. The point is nothing happens. Nothing that makes it worth the read. Now, I understand that because it is a series, you will prolly read this and I don’t blame you but be prepared to be disappointed. Now, to her credit, she does set up for a really good next issue. I can’t imagine what’s going to happen to these characters but for this it fell short.

The art on the other hand is pretty great. The way that she crafts actions and figures really makes something special that I have came to see. This is why I like her. I do love a author and artist in one. She does a great job of form and placement of the characters and does some neat stuff. I just wish this issue would have been a bit more entertaining.

Overall, I was disappointed and hope that the series gets better from this issue. I give it a 2 out of five.
