DC On A VENDETTA To Cancel TITLES!

Hell hath no fury on a low selling niche book being published in the current comics market. After the horrible news of the recent recent cancellations broke yesterday at DC in their June solicitations, news leaked today about a certain Avengers book being cancelled. Thankfully the Avengers news has been proved false, however many titles have still met their untimely demise. This comes as a shock to the industry because talented writers and artists are starting lose the books that would have made them popular. New talent on an under the radar comic is not even given the chance to fully find their footing anymore. These publishers could have put something great on the chopping block on they wouldn’t have even known it!

Writer Mark Waid had the following to say about the recent cancellation of Legion property in The New 52,

Holy shit, did DC just end the Legion franchise after 40 years of continuous publication?  Kitson/Wacker/ showed you how to make it 100% accessible in 2004, but DC immediately disavowed it even as good sales were climbing. Forgive my momentary LSH freakout. I’m over it. I just wish DC supported/believed in the franchise, but they’ve not for decades.

It makes sense for the popular writer to be upset as he has a vested interest in the franchise. In addition to Legion Of Super-Heroes, Dial H, Threshold, and Demon Knights are all set for the figurative guillotine

The industry is in need of mid level books in order to sustain itself for the long term. Hopefully these wonderful comics professionals will find more work soon. I would like to wish them all good luck!
