Black Dynamite #4 Review

Black Dynamite is still kicking ass and taking names, especially, in this issue, but does deal with a moral that we can all learn from.

The official description from IDW:

The Man With the Shuttlecock! When a basketball hero meets death on the court, his young trophy wife enlists the toughest private dick in town to shake the tree from the roots and rake up the fruits! The world’s baddest Blaxploitation sensation uses every deadly trick in his kung fu arsenal and unravels a shocking web of conspiracies that are bigger than professional sports, and two brand new size thirteens put together!

BlackDyn-04-pr-5-1f78cBlack Dynamite has been an interesting comic, with the movie, television series, and now the comic. What is nice, is that the comic adheres to the feel of Black Dynamite and you really feel that you are in this world. This issue is no different, with Black dynamite having to investigate the murder of a famous basketball player. This basketball player’s death causes a whole bunch of things to be revealed. We follow Black Dynamite through his search for the killer, where he sleeps with women, has fighting, and, of course, wins. However, the awesome part of this comic is the ending. He deals with a moral dilemma and ultimately makes a choice that really  speaks volumes.

Brian Ash has a voice and allows the reader to see the Blaxploitation that it is trying to create and goes with it. It is fun but it adds a nice ending that does make the audience thinks. I like that with a comic book.

Jun Lofamia knows the audience that this comic is reaching because it feels like a comic from the 70’s and looks that way too. The way that the action is displayed has reminiscence of old Marvel and DC comics. It is fantastic.

Black Dynamite #4 has a great contained story with a fun look.
