Yet another dose of science fiction and fantasy comics in this weeks 2000AD. With the likes of Judge Dredd, ABC Warriors, Brass Sun, Bob Byrne’s Twisted Tales and Grey Area, lets have a look what’s in 2000AD #1803.
First up, as usual, is Judge Dredd. This week explores some of the greater back story in the Dredd universe, with Dredd
himself deciding whether or not to execute a prisoner. Combined with the recent Chaos Bug, this leads to some very interesting changes amongst the Judges. Dredd, of course, does plenty of walking around looking angry.
This is followed by ABC Warriors. This weeks issue is solely black and white, but it still doesn’t sacrifice on detail. The artwork is amazing, and the story shows off some of ABC Warriors background and history. A great read for fans both new and old.
Next up is another Bob Byrne’s Twisted Tales. This one is certainly unique. The artwork can’t be described well; whether its catapults drawn from what look like naked mole rats, or the various fantasy creatures, there’s a lot to simply look at. The plot, as a result of this and a lack of dialogue, is definitely confusing, but its just so interesting to look at.
Finally, there is also the continuation of Grey Area. This current plot is definitely shaping up. The creepy yet awesome looking alien dude is back, too. The dialogue in this issue certainly challenges many concepts, notably the idea of humanity being the equivalent of a primitive country in the galactic community. Definitely worth a read.
