ManifestDestiny-06-pg6Manifest Destiny has been a really unique series re-evaluating the story of Lewis and Clark giving an intriguing twist. It has however suffered from development problems as though it’s managed to always grab my attention there have been times where I’ve questioned the point of the series. This issue does however give a lot of hope for the series future as with the revelations throughout it has really given new prospect for the series.

Chris Dingess has shown a brilliant imagination throughout this series, as the inclusion of mysterious monsters and creatures to the well known Lewis and Clark tale has really been interesting. In this issue Dingess gives us a lot of excitement with the energetic and explosive flow to the issue making it a joy to read. He also finally reveals part of the mysterious Flora infection and though there are still stuff he’s keeping back it’s nice that we’re finally getting some proper development. Despite all this I did find the ending a little anticlimactic as though it did feel relatively realistic given the circumstances it took away from the overall energy that was build-up over the issue.

Matthew Roberts‘ art continues to amaze me with it easily being the best thing about this series. The high quality and detail really make the events of the issue stand out and along with both the exciting events of the issue and the smooth layouts it makes this issue really captivating. Roberts also does a great job of giving drama and sense of peril with the characters facial expressions and overall body language giving a brilliant vibe to the issue. Added to this is the vibrant and punchy colours from Owen Gieni that give a sleek and smooth finish to this phenomenal artwork.

The first arc of Manifest Destiny comes to an end and in a very exciting and dramatic way. The overall tension along with the always captivating art make this a joy to read and thus easy to recommend.
